NANOSPASM LAB / Adam Vačkář

"The artistic research of Adam Vačkář is going at a pace that, in some respects, is a clear reference to the field of science. However, Vačkář’s intuitive approach aims at turning this pace upside down, making it circular and giving the elements that make it up and dictate the rhythm an aura that is sacred and at the same time ambiguous. Vačkář’s works that are featured in this exhibition, in the form of a real terrestrial composition, the simulacrum of a possible future conformation that is irretrievably near and that sees the pollution of the ecosystem as the prevalent aspect, act as a warning signal and proof of a future that is already present. Perhaps it’s this term “possible ” that represents the key to interpreting Vačkářs work. His entire artistic production is made up of mainly elusive constructions that are the result of a mix of industrial waste like plastic, steel and glass together with natural elements like branches or other parts of trees." Domenico de Chirico, curatorial text excerpt

The Telescope / Tim Spooner

200 CZK / 150 CZK

The show lasts 25 minutes.

‘It brilliantly played with perspective, perception, poetry…’

#divadlo

The Telescope underwent a traumatic relocation and its lenses and mirrors became hopelessly rearranged. It was impossible to tell anymore whether the view through the telescope was of the surface of a distant planet or a microscopic reflection of the interior of the viewer’s own eye. Nevertheless this new world was studied and documented thoroughly.

The Telescope looks through a broken telescope at a world which responds to being watched, a reflection of the watcher. A series of magnetic and chemical events are enacted under a microscope camera and presented live as a documentary account of an uncertain landscape.

Created and performed by Tim Spooner
Produced by Ania Obolewicz/Artsadmin

Tim Spooner works in performance, collage, painting and sculpture. His work uses materials and objects in ways that reveal unexpected properties, aiming to open up perspectives beyond the human scale. Fundamentally interested in unpredictability, his work is an exercise in balancing control with a lack of it in the handling of the materials he is working with. Since 2010, Tim has created a series of increasingly complex live works centred around the revelation of “life” in material. Recent projects include The Voice of Nature, an interconnected system of fragile sculptures; The Assembly of Animals, made for young audiences and concerned with the abstraction of an animal form; and The Telescope, which uses a microscope camera to reveal a universe of miniature objects manipulated using magnets, electricity and chemical reactions. Alongside, and in relation to these projects, he has produced a continuous stream of paintings and collages.
