SCAMMERS ATTACK / Janek & Natálka & collective

Scamming is art. They have been with us since the beginning of mankind. They are all around us. And they are more and more of them. There´s no place you won´t run into them. And all they care about is your credit card. You think you wouldn´t fall for them? Do you want to bet? A theatre encyclopedia of authentic fraud scenarios they use every day to drain our bank account, our wallet or our self-esteem. Scammers steal tens of billions of dollars every year worldwide. One in ten people in the world, including infants and people living outside civilisation, fall victim to fraud every year. One in ten dating site and apps profiles turn out to be a scam. There are 83 millions fake Facebook profiles. Around 1,5 million new fraudulent websites are created every month. Only a very small percentage of all frauds are reported by their victims. The only reliable method for how to defend oneself against such scenarios is to get to know them. NoD theatre presents its seventh production as a compilation from authentic transcripts of the scenarios and methods employed by scammers and fraudsters. It is dedicated to director Silvia Dymáková for her documentary Šmejdi (Crooks, Czech Republic, 2013) which practically eliminated an entire generation of crooks.

HAMU Graduate Choreography Showcase

An evening of graduation projects by third-year choreography students at the Academy of Performing Arts (HAMU).  Nadkroví Barbora Sváčková Performance Nadkroví from Barbora Sváčková focuses on the topic of an individual being held within the embrace of their family – an embrace that is both warm and restraining at the same time. It explores the roles we take on, the paths we choose to follow, and how they transform over the course of our lives. Portraying the longing for safety that we find in an overcrowded nest, as well as the force that prevents us from taking flight. Five performers on stage shift between roles, just as we ourselves continually change. Through metaphor, imagery, and physical closeness, they reveal the delicate layers of relationships: tenderness and tension, closeness and distance. They search for balance between the need to remain rooted and the desire to rise and fly. Four performers on the stage use physical composition and limited vision to create an image of a system that both shapes and distorts individuals. Through this production Simona raises a question of personal responsibility: are we merely observers, or are we ourselves part of the mechanism that shapes us? In the work she addresses the invisible structure of power and offers the possibility that a mere shared gaze could once again become a meaningful encounter. And the body that seems detached can once again live as a human being. 8 BILLION PEOPLE ARE BURNING / 8lidí

A new original production by the creative collective 8lidí. Pleasant heat. Thick steam. The scent of citrus. Western society relaxes in sauna worlds, while global fire counts are hitting record highs and, two years ago, the human population on our planet surpassed 8 billion. Yet in elections around the world, environmental issues have long been falling by the wayside. Where else to find a solution but in the sauna? Conversations and images in the hot steam about the fire burning our planet and the fire burning within us.  How can we respond to climate change without burning out? What positive lessons can we take from this crisis? Where else can we agree on a solution than in the sauna? Sauna bathing supports the regeneration of the human body, releases happiness hormones, sharpens thoughts, calms the soul, and soothes sorrow. Rebirth through fire, sauna rituals, conversations, and images in the hot steam about the fire consuming the planet and the fire within us. Sauna-goer: The warmth feels good; I feel the fire in my body. I feel so incredibly good; I finally feel alive, I feel myself smoldering, burning, burning for something—I’m finally alive!
