Saul lives alone in the middle of the desert, with only an iguana named Nebraska. He came here to say goodbye to someone. Saul knows it's important to say goodbye to the dead, otherwise they become ghosts and their souls wander sadly around the world. He knows this because some of those souls visit him every day in his caravan. 

Red sand, burnt thistles, beer and one overfed iguana. A modern variation on the classic American generation drama, author Sophie Merceron mixes poetic language with harsh reality, human instinct with refinement and beauty.

Sophie Merceron: 

Theatrical author, published mainly by L'École Des Loisirs. She has won numerous awards for her work: her play Avril won the Grand Prix de Littérature Dramatique Jeunesse 2020. The text Manger un phoque was awarded the Grand Prix de Littérature Dramatique Jeunesse 2021 and also received a Beaumarchais/SACD scholarship.

In 2020 she wrote the text Respire, commissioned by Stanislas Nordey, artistic director of the Théâtre National de Strasbourg Respire was published by Espaces 34 in the collection Ce qui nous arrive. At the invitation of UNESCO, she participated in the House of Authors in Tbilisi/Georgia, where she also wrote the book Kingsland. Her next text, Les corps vifs, was written during a CDN residency in Madrid. 

Her book Je suis un lac gelé (commissioned by director Matthieu Roy) will be published by L'Ecole Des Loisirs in March 2023.

During his residency at La Chartreuse (Centre national des écritures du spectacle), he produced the text Nebraska, which will be published by Les Solitaires Intempestifs and presented as part of the Eat the Frog festival.
